On Saturday, SCORES had its first Game Day of the Spring season at Boxer Stadium, a new venue for SCORES parents and players. The 6,000 seat stadium, in Balboa Park, is normally reserved for the premier soccer clubs in the area.
For many SCORES participants, playing on Boxer's pristine field marked the first time they had ever played on nice grass fields. The event also represented the return of two San Francisco schools to the SCORES family. Marshall Elementary and SF Community Elementary both brought new Select teams to the event. Before Saturday, many of their players had never played in a competitive soccer game.
San Francisco's Elks Club added to the festivities by setting up a "Shoot Out" station for players and parents to try their feet at different passing accuracy challenges.
