ASBA Screens "Louder Than A Bomb"
On December 7th, we hosted a screening of the poetry slam documentary "Louder Than A Bomb".
We believe this film is a sort of "World Cup" of poetry. It is a showcase of the importance of poetry in the lives of children who have limited opportunities. America SCORES Bay Area is proud to be providing similar services to youth in grades one through five. Films like "Louder Than A Bomb" remind us of the significance of the existence of poetry as an outlet - a way for children to find their voices in a community that is rarely heard, for them to display their achievements in front of a supportive audience, and to build literacy skills so they may succeed in school.
Many of our audience members left the event feeling inspired. Not necessarily to write poetry (although some may have), but to be involved in organizations like SCORES so that these programs may continue to affect change.
Thank you to all of you who were able to come. Your support of SCORES is always appreciated and valued. We look forward to doing more events in the future and hope you can be a part of them.
